I’m not sure I’d agree that ENFPs are the most introverted of the Extraverts. The introverted process they use as their auxiliary (or, Co-Pilot) is Introverted Feeling (or what we call Authenticity), which encourages a lot of introspective and intraspective work. When they are in this space they can seem extremely introverted. But it usually takes some time and maturity to go to that space often enough for outsiders to mistake them for Introverts.

Also, ENFPs learn best through performance which encourages extremely extraverted behavior. Think Jim Carrey, Russell Brand, Ashton Kutcher and Anthony Robbins. No one would mistake any of these four for Introverts, though their content indicates they’ve spent a lot of time and effort in deep, introspective thought. Even when an ENFP enters spaces of higher maturity that love of performance makes it difficult to mistake them for Introverts.

If an ENFP would place themselves as an Introvert it may be because most people don’t see the ‘face behind the performance’, and so they believe they are more introverted than others realize. In the years I’ve been profiling I don’t think I’ve personally met an ENFP that was resistant or even surprised at discovering they were an Extravert.

If I were to state any of the Extraverted types were the ‘most introverted of the Extraverts’ I’d look in the direction of those who lead with Extraverted Thinking (or what we call Effectiveness), which are ENTJs and ESTJs. Their focus on getting things done as an extraverted compulsion can be mistaken for less social behavior, leading others to incorrectly place them as Introverts.

This was very helpful. Thank you. I shared it on an ENFJ page

Can you do ENFP versus INFP? Because (apparently) ENFPs are the most introverted extroverts, I’ve found that many consider themselves introverts before they’re properly typed
