Fridays @ Five: Five Things We Loved this Week

Every Friday, we send out an exclusive list of five unique or interesting things we’ve found (or explored) around the web during the week.

It may include books, gadgets, albums, articles, new hacks/tricks, and — of course — all sorts of weird stuff we dig up around the web. It’s often focused on Intuitive things and personal growth. Please feel free to spread the word with friends who would also enjoy.

Here’s some great stuff to check out over the coming weekend…

1. WIRED’S HOW TO SITE

I recently discovered that Wired has a how to section of their site.

I’m home from school for the summer, and I have quickly realized that I have a lot of free time, most of which I spend on the internet (hence these posts.) Spending an entire day accomplishing nothing online doesn’t feel particularly great- so I’ve bookmarked this page to try to learn (or pretend to try and learn) a variety of skills.Self improvement can take many forms, some of which include fire. Next goal: learn to lockpick. Click here to visit the site.

2. BUZZFEED: GOOGLE’S NEWEST I/O CONFERENCE

As an Ne primary, I often get excited at the prospect of a new technology, much less at the actual announcement of new technology. Google’s most recent I/O conference was held by their new CEO, Sundar Pichai, who announced plans for programs as ambitious as virtual reality gear and a friendly AI assistant. Ready when you are, robot overlords. Click here to read the article.

3. GODDESS PROVISIONS

It is my dream to one day have enough of an income to buy a bunch of subscription boxes. Despite the fact that I cannot currently do that, I frequently shop for them. I recently discovered one called “Goddess Provisions,” and while things like chakras are not exactly my area of expertise, their products seem worth checking out. (We aren’t being sponsored, I promise.) Click here to see some of their past boxes.

4. NATHAN FOR YOU

I found my new favorite TV show.

Nathan For You has a pretty simple premise: Nathan Fielder, a comedian with a business degree, helps struggling companies rebrand themselves in genuinely bizzare and brilliant ways. The plans are actually pretty well thought out and very intuitive. We suspect that he may be an INTJ. Nathan is the mind behind stunts like “Dumb Starbucks” and a staged viral video of a pig saving a baby goat from a pond. I personally recommend “Ghost Realtor,” which Joel and I both really enjoyed. Click here to watch a playlist of clips from the show.

5. MORTIFIED PODCAST

As I’ve said in our previous Fridays @ Five posts, everyone at Personality Hacker are big fans of podcasts. I’m always on the lookout for newer, weirder ones. I have a gem to introduce to you today: The Mortified Podcast. It’s a product of both a netflix documentary and a book- people get up on stage and read journals from childhood up through high school. The results are always funny, often embarrassing, and usually (eerily) familiar. I picked it because I think I have an idea that I was brilliant and misunderstood in middle school, when that probably wasn’t the case. This podcast is a pretty good reminder of how silly things can sometimes be from an outside perspective. Click here to listen.

So there you have it. Of course these picks reflect some of my personal biases and interests – but having hung around the Personality Hacker community for a while now – and being personal growth focused – I’m pretty sure you will find at least one thing from the above list to be interesting.

Also – leave a comment or your thoughts below. Love to hear what you think.
